DARK PASSAGE

What do Norah Jones, Christopher Walken,  the band “ ****edUp”, Vegan Black Metal Chef,  Sam Brown, nightmare of Eastern European folklore Krampus, the Catalonian Pooping Log, Dave Arnold, chefs Lidia Bastianich,  April Bloomfield, Kurt Gutenbrunner, Eder Montero, Alexandra Raij, Carlos Llaguno Morales and the voices of Adam Richman and Andrew Zimmern have in common?

They all foolishly agreed to appear in our scandalous, dark, action-packed fever dream of a Holiday Show which airs this Monday, December 12th at 10PM—when, presumably, the kiddies will be asleep.

Frankly, I think it’s our finest (and most disturbing and deranged) hour yet, a holiday classic. The above artists were—all of them—heroically good humored and generous with their time. And I’d like to give particular thanks to Sam Brown—whose appearance is particularly fearless, frightening  and so far from her “brand” as to make us all look like wussies. Thank you Sam. Never shall I make another snarky remark. You ****in’ rule.  Now wash that mouth out with soap. Your language is appalling! Thanks Norah Jones for learning to sing scatological ditties in Catalan—and for all your work on the show.  Christopher Walken. Now I can scratch a major item off my bucket list. And the rest of you…I am forever grateful.

Do NOT miss this. Christmas has never been stranger.

I guess I'm not the only one to respond to your Paula Deen bashing….lol. I watch YOU every night….and never watch her show. I am disappointed in you. You smoke, drink and eat fried foods all the time…sheesh….whatzamatta with you? Leave the old lady alone. She has a problem and she has to deal with it. I'm not sure if I will continue to watch you now…. "big deal" you say…. oh well…… grow up!

I love you, Tony Bourdain… not just because your new show, 'The Layover' has completely obliterated my conception of fluffy tv chefs, but because you face reality in a way that does not go unappreciated. You are the reason I watch the Travel Channel, and hopefully there will be much more to come!

  3. Jennifer says:

You have attacked Paula Deen because you are jealous. You have your own issues and you are pointing the finger at a poor woman that is love by millions. Shame on you. PIG!!!!

enjoy no reservations. didnt know that much profanity couild be connected in such a thoughtful manner. however, saw show yesterday, the "snake" and three chefs? please if your dinner guess cannt keep their elbows off the table during a meal dont bring them back. "old four" eyes was the worts offender and condecending to boot.

Yes I know I am SHAMELESS!!

  7. Corey Jackson says:

Your episode in Montreal was phenomenal. The format for TL has so many benefits, one being you're not spread thin all over a country. I'd like to see episodes in Frankfurt and Moscow.

  8. Cristina says:

    Mr. Bourdain,

I recently watched your show on Romania. Your show is supposed to be primarily about food: well, the Romania episode was not about food at all, but rather about a Russian guide who was getting drunk (wouldn't it have been more appropriate to have as a guide someone who actually knew something about the country and the food?). Also, wouldn't it have been professional to inform yourself about the topic that you chose for your show? It's a shame you chose to make a mockery of everything. I don't see how this episode was professional, or funny, or informative, by any stretch of the imagination. It also makes me wonder about the quality of the other episodes, and of the entire show.

Sorry I missed this episode. But I did catch Layover last night, and I loved it (Roman episode). It is amazing how much food you can eat in such a small amount of time. I guess espresso helps. But what I want to know is when are you coming to Memphis, Tennessee? With your love of roasted pork, how could you stay away for long? If you come, I would be a great guide. Come for the Memphis in May barbeque festival, you will love it.

I still have this on my DVR and share it with visitors. Good to see that S.Brown has a good sense of humor, to her credit. You are the best take on the culinary scene yet. Keep up the good work. By far the best on Travel channel. I met Anthony in Les Halles back in 1990 or '91 at the bar after a business lunch. "3 O'Clock is Beer O"Clock". Indeed.

    Tony-

Once again, I was tortured into watching the 2009 SF show. WTF! Your local guide has no clue how to take you to "Tony nirvana". Next time you come to SF, let me take you around to amazing new butchers, meat-meccas, top Chinese dives, Ethiopian dens and breakfast places to cure that vodka "Tony" night. Hell, you did not even visit the home of the fortune cookie – that is right, it is not Chinese in origin. Dan Enright

    Hello,
I would like to suggest Basque food episode combined with the beauty of Biarritz, France south San Sebastian or Bilbao, Spain.
and of course if you need a guide…

    Love the show!

  13. Hugo Alvarez says:

Enter text right here!Hello Mr. Anthony Bourdain, your show is very good, but you never include central America places like guatemala City where the food is to die for, you should do some home work and give them a try.

  14. Wata says:

Saw the kurdistan episode today<3 loved it. Scary as hell but good.

  15. derrek says:

    Mr. Bourdain,

College fan here. Keep up the good work! I really think you're doing good in this world. Don't ever change your personality for the sake of television. When I watch your show I see honesty and that's a good thing. When I watch your show I feel an inner drive in myself to explore the world. I have a 20 hour layover in Tokyo next month. Japan here I come!
