New Season of Bizarre Foods!
I can’t wait for April 26th and the premiere of a brand new season of Bizarre Foods. First off, I can hear you already saying “of course you would say that” and you’re right, but this season is bigger and badder than ever before.
First there’s Asia … Cambodia, Tokyo, Issan and Bangkok are four places that push the limits of my endurance. From rice field rats to posh tuna emporiums, I am offered desserts made from tuna skin, grillades of the giant tuna blood line, and even whole roasted tuna heads. All that combined made these shows some of the craziest we have ever produced.
We also shot a few shows in the Latin Corridor beginning with Arizona, heading down to Baja, and on into Buenos Aires.
Domestic shows are some of my favorites to create and are always full of the biggest surprises. Our night in Sedona with the New Age food mongers was one I will never forget. These people are convinced that they can talk and listen to their food! Hunting pack rats in the high-plains desert, the State Fair, and finally a day with a Navajo family in a remote section of Monument Valley made this one of my favorite all time shows.
Baja and Buenos Aires speak for themselves. In Baja, we found seafood and street food that will leave you breathless. In Buenos Aires, we found meat … and more meat … and more meat … and got to tango the night away with one of the sultriest goddesses we have ever had the pleasure to spend time with. Tango and Zimmern aren’t usually used in the same sentence, but I think it works here.
And then there’s Mongolia … like our Uganda, Tanzania and Botswana shows before it … this is an immersive experience. Believe it or not the locals in Mongolia are further off the grid than anywhere else in the world from a percentage of population stand point. Living in tents, these nomads are herders, spend cold, cold nights with only the warmth of an animal dung fire to keep you company. Life can get pretty strange. And the food? Well put it this way, the national beverage of choice is fermented mare’s milk. Enough said.
So when I tell you that this is the best season ever of Bizarre Foods, you can count on it.
