Three Snapshots from the Road
From the Road Snapshot: Just wrapped shooting in Rio earlier this week. It was a drag [insert sarcasm here!]. The beautiful people, the amazing food, and of course moments like these, as my cameraman Brian Lundy goes airborne.
Just watching that makes me almost pee in my pants! I have a total heights issue.
Real Life Snapshot: I just got back from family vacation in Maui with the wife and kid, the in-laws and the nanny. What a slick and styling entourage! Here’s how it broke down: Flew in during the Minnesota blizzard on the 26th. Barely made it out of mainland, got to Kapalua and checked into the amazing Ritz Carlton. I have to tell you, that place is awesome. Amazing beaches to choose from and on a truly private part of the island. Great eats at Gerard’s in Lahaina, Spago in Wailea, Da Kitchen, Mala, Roys Kahana Grill and (most importantly) the entire team at the Banyan Tree restaurant.
Took the family on a helicopter tour of Maui with Sunshine Helicopters, the waterfalls and volcanoes were insane. Noah fell asleep on the way back to the airport. Whale watches, turtle dives, snorkel and diving tours and mountain hikes and zip-lines– all courtesy of the Michel Cousteau Ambassadors of the Environment learning center at The Ritz Carlton. It’s an amazing program, especially for the kids.
Shameless Act of Self-promotion Snapshot: Please log onto www.shortyawards.com and vote for me in the Food Category. If we do well in their rankings, we will donate $1,000 to a scholarship fund on behalf of the Shorty Awards to The Retreat (www.theretreat.org). This will help those in need of financial aid for a residential treatment for chemical dependency and alcoholism right here in Minnesota. Help us make a difference, won’t you?
