Philly: The Best Sandwich City?

Andrew Zimmern at John's Roast Pork

I was thinking about our Pennsylvania Experience the other day as I was chowing down on a steak sandwich in the Favela Rhocina in Rio De Janeiro. Philly is an amazing sandwich city. From 4th Street Deli to Paesano’s, from Georges to Johns Roast Pork (pictured above), I even roll my own (so to speak) at DiBruno’s. I miss that where I live; Minneapolis is a crummy sandwich town.

Anyway, we ate in many of those places and more on the latest episode of Bizarre Foods, heading your way this coming Tuesday at 9pm E/P. But the real highlights were our visit to the Redneck Ranch for a scrapple making lesson, a dive into the river, a shotgun shooting contest and yes, plenty of pig. We also dined a few times at Morimoto, once on camera where I swear to god the master himself tried to kill me. Well not really, but you’ll have to see for yourself when Bizarre Foods: Pennsylvania airs this coming Tuesday. Check it out.
