New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival …
The 42nd annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival kicked off with performances by the Beach Boys, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen and Jimmy Buffet, along with many local musicians like Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. This weekend is set to be just as epic: Zac Brown Band, Ziggy Marley, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, the Foo Fighters, the Eagles and local bands like Rebirth Brass Band are all slated to perform.

One World Trade Center …
On April 30, workers added a steel column to the top of One World Trade Center (formerly known as the Freedom Tower), making it the tallest building in New York City. The tower now stands at over 1,250 feet tall, the height of the now second-tallest building, the Empire State Building (without its antenna). A symbol of re-birth and strength, One World Trade Center earned its bragging rights the same week as the US marked the 1-year anniversary of Osama Bin Laden’s death. When it’s finished, the building (with its spire) will rise exactly 1,776 feet into the air, making it the tallest in the Western Hemisphere and the third tallest in the world.

Diamond Jubilee …
Queen Elizabeth II continues to tour England as part of the year-long celebration marking the 60th anniversary of her coronation. London is in the midst of preparing for a 4-day Bank Holiday weekend in honor of the Queen, from June 2-5, in which 1,000 floats will take to the Thames River for a parade, BBC will host a concert at Buckingham Palace and Londoners will take to the streets to celebrate.
