Olympic Tickets: Not Too Late To Buy!
By Mommy Points
If you’re anything like me and don’t have quite the athletic ability to make it to the Olympic Games as a competitor, then the closest you can get to the experience is as a cheering spectator in the stands. The good news is that being a spectator at the Olympics is an absolutely amazing experience, and the even better news is that it still isn’t too late to get tickets to events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London!

As recently as early July I had success purchasing tickets to gymnastics finals at face value via the official ticket source in the United States. (More on that later).
It’s true there was an initial lottery conducted in 2011 in which people could attempt to obtain tickets to various 2012 Olympic events. Many people have the false impression that if you weren’t lucky in that lottery — or missed the lottery entirely — that it’s too late to get tickets. It turns out that tickets are actually still for sale to some events via the official ticket source at face value (plus a service charge).
The official ticket source will vary depending on your country of residence. For example, if you live in the United States then the official source for 2012 Olympic tickets is CoSport.com. You can find out who your official ticket source is by going to the London 2012 ticketing website. Availability will vary based on the ticket source for your country.
Basketball, the closing ceremonies, gymnastics, diving, beach volleyball and more have all recently been available, and there is even a message on the official site saying that additional tickets will be released on an almost daily basis from now until the games begin. Inventory fluctuates, so don’t give up if you don’t see availability for what you want on the first try. Also keep in mind that at this point, most tickets have to be picked up in person by the account holder in London.
To search and see if any of the available events will work for you (assuming you live in the US), head to CoSport.com, and click on “Products” and then “Individual Tickets.” If you see what you want, quickly add it to your cart and secure your own Olympics experience!
I’ll be heading to the Olympics in early August and can’t wait to share more info about experiencing London 2012 while staying on a budget!
