Did you roll out of bed at 3 a.m. to patiently wait in line with fellow Mac fans under the soft white-light glow of the Apple logo, counting down the minutes until the doors to your local Apple store opened? Our photo editor did — we’re not judging!

In celebration of the much-anticipated iPhone 5, we wanted to share some exciting news for all you diehard iPhone owners and Travel Channel fans. Just in time for your shiny new gadget, our web development team has rolled out an iPhone-optimized version of Travelchannel.com.

Web engineer Tom Pratchios said that his team took a “long, hard look at the iPhone mobile experience and decided that we owed our visitors a better experience.” Tom continued, “Like many, we have visited mobile sites and know when what’s served is a cop-out, and we wanted to raise the bar a bit. We didn’t want users to have to zoom in to view or interact with every piece of content.”

Our development team is always trying to improve the overall experience for our visitors — they are already looking through feedback and assessing how they can improve the mobile site, so if you have any gripes, share them in the comments!

Once you get your new iPhone 5 booted up (and after you’re done browsing our newly-optimized site, of course), be sure to download some of our editors’ favorite travel apps – whether you’re looking to find a nearby place to go rock climbing or in search of a taxi, there’s an app for that. Happy browsing!
