Fascinating! Simple sleeping pods with netting that range from those hanging from tree branches at various heights to 3,280 cliffside feet above the ground? Ascent and descent is assisted by ropes?

Yikes, what if you wake up in the middle of the night and step out for a quick nature walk? I think the whole Bavarian Waldseilgarten Hoellschulcht adventure resort idea is a bit too, um, high risk and adventurous for me.

For those not quite so adventurous travelers like me who wish to experience the stunning beauty of Pfronten, Germany without hanging from the rafters, or tree branches, there are a number of more sedate choices for lodging.

One is the delightfully Bavarian alpine Hotel Schoenblick, a country casual gem that will have you singing tunes like "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" from the "Sound of Music" in no time at all.

Another fine option is the majestic cliff-top Burghotel Falkenstein with tastefully and luxuriously furnished theme suites such as Castle View, the Crystal Suite, Royal Villa, or even exotic Casablanca to name just a few.

I'd feel so much more grounded in either one — and still have those magnificent views to enjoy.
