Looking for a table with a view for your next summer night out? OpenTable just released their 2014 Diners’ Choice Award Winners for Most Scenic Restaurants.

Whether you’re looking for a sun-drenched table on a private Hawaiian beach or a panoramic vista of the New York City skyline, these restaurants serve up delectable cuisine paired with postcard-worthy views.  This year’s list of winning restaurants with breathtaking views is based on more than 5 million restaurant reviews for more than 19,000 restaurants nationwide.

It’s no surprise that California, with its dramatic coastal views, dominates with 38 winning restaurants; Washington follows with 7 honorees, Hawaii with 5 and Florida with 4. Restaurants don’t need to be oceanfront to wow diners — desert backdrops and majestic mountains put Arizona, Colorado and Wyoming on the list, too.

With 100 restaurants to choose from, here’s a cheat sheet for picking a view that fits your mood:

For beachfront viewing of Hawaiian sunsets: Ulu Ocean Grill and Sushi Lounge – Ka’upulehu, HI

For panoramic cityscapes of the New York City skyline: Water’s Edge – Long Island City, NY

For a breathtaking perch in the Blue Ridge Mountains: Sunset Terrace-Omni Grove Park Inn – Asheville, NC

For a revolving post overlooking the Gulf of Mexico: Spinners Rooftop Revolving Bistro & Lounge-Grand Plaza Hotel – St. Pete Beach, FL

For tableside whale watching: Pacific’s Edge – Carmel, CA

For 360-degree views of the Strip and Nevada desert: Top of the World Restaurant-Stratosphere Hotel – Las Vegas

For dreamy desertscapes: High Finance Restaurant at the Top of the Tram – Albuquerque, NM

For floor-to-ceiling views of the Grand Tetons: The Granary Restaurant – Jackson Hole, WY

For a sweeping panorama of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains: Ray’s Boathouse – Seattle

There are so many grand and gloriously scenic restaurants around this great country, and unfortunately I've only managed to get to a handful of them!

My most recent dining adventure was at The Veranda restaurant in Fallbrook, CA at the Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens. What an amazing lake and garden view along with superb food, excellent service and most reasonable prices. I can hardly wait for a return visit.

Lucky for me that it's so close by, a local favorite is the Escena Lounge and Grill in Palm Springs. From any angle you'll be treated to stunning views overlooking a golf course, lake and palm trees with impressive mountains as a backdrop.

Food and service? Outstanding. Here's a short script from the restaurant website: Voted the 2010 Top New Restaurant by Palm Springs Life Magazine, the Escena Lounge & Grill pairs delectable California fusion cuisine and a retro vibe with eye-popping design and incomparable views. Open year-round to the public, the Escena Lounge & Grill offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch along with happy hour and seasonal live entertainment.
