Poveglia IslandYou might be able to spend a night in one of the world’s most haunted places: Poveglia Island, Italy. That is, if Italy gets its way and a luxury hotel developer places the highest bid. Until then, the island with a long, sordid history of illness and death is up for sale. Much like the hit show Breaking Bad caused an influx of visitors to Albuquerque, NM, this year, the newest take on The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, that premiered on Fox last month, is leading flocks of curious visitors to vacation to the tiny New York town of the same name.

Sleepy Hollow village administrators have noticed a significant increase in the number of visitors wandering around Sleepy Hollow Cemetery and the Headless Horseman Bridge with several tours of the area selling out as early as September – something that just doesn’t happen.

Sleepy Hollow, which was just picked up for a second season, is loosely based on the 1820 legend, but with a modern twist: Protagonist Ichabod Crane has been resurrected centuries after his death to save the town of Sleepy Hollow, and of course the world, from forces of evil.

The village, located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, is home to “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” author Washington Irving’s gravesite and served as inspiration for the made-up town where Irving’s story of the legendary “headless horseman” took place.

The town of Sleep Hollow is embracing its new-found fame and record website traffic, creating a spooky commercial encouraging visitors to trek to the area featuring ghosts, ghouls and the headless horseman himself shopping for groceries and going about normal everyday activities.

And the attention might only gain more steam. Rumors from the show’s production company are that the cast itself will visit the town and are looking for possible storylines from the iconic area to bring to prime time television.

This notorious island right off the coast of San Francisco was once thought to be cursed by Native Americans, who dubbed it “Evil Island.” Home to the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast, military fortifications and a rather large seabird colony, Alcatraz Island is most famous for the prison that held prisoners for 30 years and was thought to be inescapable. The island’s bloody and violent history came to a peak in 1946 when a failed escape attempt by 6 prisoners turned into the Battle of Alcatraz, which resulted in the gruesome deaths of 2 guards and 3 inmates.

Tonight, at 9|8c, the Ghost Adventures crew visits Alcatraz Island to see if those inmates and guards who spent their last hours inside the prison walls still linger among the cell blocks. While you watch, don’t forget to hangout with other GA fans in the Fan Lair and share your thoughts on the lockdown!

Want to take your own tour of Alcatraz Island? Plan a trip to San Francisco with the help of our travel guide, but before you go, see how the guys prepared for The Rock.

“To watch those 3 not just go a-hunting in pitch-blackness, but to do it for our entertainment, still amazes me. Since that time, I have been a hardcore fan of the show; they are as funny and quick-witted as they are fearless and stoic.”
-Dean Haglund, Actor, Ghost Adventures Live Host

For their 100th investigation, tonight at 9|8c, the Ghost Adventures crew visit St. Louis to lock down in the house where the event that inspired the movie, The Exorcist, happened in 1949, when a little boy was possessed by the devil.

On a beautiful, unassuming street in a quiet neighborhood in St. Louis, sits a brick house with a dark history, or as a fellow paranormal investigator called it, The House Where Satan Slept. The guys put themselves at risk and attempt to summon the demons that may still be lurking in this family home – what will they find?

Plan your own trip to St. Louis with the help of our travel guide – we even found a haunted walking tour of the city that includes the story of the famous exorcism, as well as a museum with artifacts from the movie.

And don’t miss what some famous friends of the GAC said about the guys to congratulate them on making it to such a huge milestone.

Where will you be lurking tonight? Be sure to hang out with the GAC family and the @GALairMaster in the Fan Lair!

Get ready for the lockdowns to return when the Ghost Adventures Crew heads to Goodsprings, NV – just outside of Las Vegas – to investigate the Pioneer Saloon on tonight’s season premiere at 9|8c!

The Pioneer Saloon is not only a historic landmark with over 100 years of history, but it also has ties to Hollywood. When Clark Gable’s wife, Carole Lombard, died in the 1942 plane crash on nearby Mount Potosi, he awaited the news of her death at the Pioneer Saloon. The saloon even has a wall of photos dedicated to the Hollywood couple. And the guys are here to find out: Does the spirit of Carole Lombard continue to haunt the Pioneer Saloon?

If you want to make your own trip to the haunted Pioneer Saloon, check out our travel guide for tips on where to stay and what to do when you hit the Nevada desert.
