It was a big year. The Olympics took over London, and James Bond returned to the box office for the 23rd time. We took a tour of the Twilight destinations and even learned where Gangnam is. 2012 is definitely a year to remember, so let us jog your memory before we jump into 2013 … READ MORE
Here at Travel Channel, in the midst of election season, we can’t help but be fascinated by presidential travel. The Waldorf Presidential Suite doesn’t look too shabby, and I think we could all live with the James Bond-like features of the president’s limo. It’s hard to not daydream about luxury travel, and this is a whole new league of budgeting. With the Republicans holding their convention from August 27-30 in Tampa, and the Democrats in Charlotte September 4-6, we decided to see just what these cities have to offer the political junkies that’ll be making their way there.
From Charlotte’s neighborhoods to Tampa’s nightlife, there’s plenty to see in both of these cities — aside from a glimpse of Barack or Mitt, of course. When you’re not cheering for your candidate, try Tampa’s seafood with your fellow elephants or pile on the barbecue with your donkey buddies. After all, you can’t give every dollar to their campaigns.
So, no matter who you’re rooting for this election cycle, check out our City vs. City guide and decide which city you’d rather visit!
